Read the passage. Underline the past tense verbs.
I got a beautiful pair of shoes. As I laced them up, a pair of wings came out from behind and
began to flap. I was flying! What a lovely scene it was moving through the white and grey
clouds across the perfect blue sky.
I flew for most of the day, but then the wings on my shoes started melting with the heat of
sun. I saw land beneath me. I took a straight dive but crashed onto the ground with the speed
of lightning. I felt dizzy and was in pain. I would have to learn how to safely land with my
new shoes.
Is the passage an example of non-fiction or fantasy? Explain your choice.
