Counterview:
- There is a lot of loads of homework on students nowadays including completion of notebooks, understanding and learning the concepts, preparing for tests, revision too.
- Nowadays the portion has become so vast that students have to write notes to learn and also to have a quick revision during exam time. Also, students have to write so much in class that it can not be said that they have lost the habit of writing and solitary study.
- To complete the portion on time children even don't have the time to take fresh air or spend quality time with family and friends and even don't have the time to know themselves.
- For strengthening the foundation, students should be taught practically than writing and mugging up the things which will never be going to help. Rather they should be motivated to think in a new way on particular topics for which group discussion should be held.
Answer:
THE ROLE OF HOMEWORK
The question I would like to ask is :- Why should student be overburden with homework. There was a time when student were given pages and pages of writing or learning work to do at home. The modern focus of education is more activity based. Students are asked to plan projects, participate in group activities in class and do a lot of oral work in class itself— all of which have to develop their all-around personalities.
Sitting alone at home and writing or learning answer after answer hardly benefit the students. Planning project or participating in group activities has to develop various qualities which will stand them in goods stead later life. They learn to be more social, they learn to share experience and what is most important. They begin to understand things better than they would ever be able to if they seat alone at home spending hours on homework. The oral discussion develop their speaking skills, teach them how to participate in conversations, make them learn to importance of sharing ideas, respecting others people's opinions, airing differences of opinion gracefully and so on. All this cannot be learnt at home. Classroom activity is the norm of the day and a welcome norm. Indeed! children tend to learn more when they are with their pair group. Learning becomes a fun-activities rather than a burdensome lonely exercise.
