Read the following passage and answer the following questions : Pygmalion, a famous sculptor of Cyprus, used to carve statues from marble and wood so perfectly that visitors often mistook them for living men and women. Never satisfied with his work, however, he put all his labour and skill into fashioning a beautiful woman from snow white ivory. He himself was so delighted with his statue that he imagined it to be a living woman, spoke to it, dressed it in silks, decorated it with flowers and ornaments. At last he even went to the temple and begged the gods to give it life. Returning home he found to his amazement that the statue had indeed been changed into a living maiden.
