Real Life 10 examples of Newton's 3rd law
Answers
Examples of newton’s laws in everyday life based on third law of motion:
•Our hand feels pain when we hit the table because the table gives force as a reaction to our hand
•When someone swim, force given from his hand to the water results a reacting force from the water with the total force as big as his hand’s force, but in the opposite direction. So that he moves forward even though he swing his hand backward
•Another example is that when we throw a ball upward, force of gravity is applied by the earth on the ball. Ball follows the projectile motion and accelerates towards the earth due to the force of gravity applied by the earth on the ball. In the similar fashion, ball also applies same force to the earth and tries to attract the earth towards it. But the earth mass is very large, so the acceleration produced in the ball is very small or negligible.
•fmForce exerted by the hammer on the nail is Fhn and the force exerted by the nail on the hammer is shown by Fnh. Here the force exerted by the hammer on the nail is equal in magnitude and opposite in direction to the force applied by the nail on the hammer.
•Suppose a person slams the wall with his fist. The force applied by the person through his fist on the wall is equal to the force applied by the wall on the fist. Harder the person slams the wall, more he gets hurt. Similar procedure is followed when a person kicks the football.
•When we touch the rock with toe and apply force on it, the toe exerts force on the rock. Equal amount of force is exerted back on the toe by the rock. If you apply more force on the rock by the toe, more force is felt by you and it hurts.
•When rocket moves in the space it pushes the gas outside from it, i.e., rocket applies force on the gases in the backward direction. As a reaction, the gases put equal amount of force on the rocket in the opposite direction and the rocket moves in the forward direction
Examples of newton’s 3rd law
newtons 3rd law
1.A book lying on a table
The weight of the books is acting on the table in the downward direction. This is the action,The reaction of the table acts on the books in the upward direction.
2.Motion of air filled balloon
Take an air filled balloon is set free, the air inside it rushes out and the balloon moves forward. In this example, the action is by the balloon that pushes the air out of it when set free. The reaction of the air which escapes out from the balloon acts on the balloon forward.A rocket moves on the same principle. When its fuel burns, hot gases escape out from its tail with a very high speed. The reaction of these gases on the rocket causes it to move opposite to the gases rushing out of its tail.
3.Flight of rocket
examples of newton's third law
When fuel of rocket is burnt, hot gases rush out with great speed from tail of rocket.Due to reaction of these gases rockets move forward in the upward direction
4.Walking: when you walk, you push the street i.e. you apply a force on the street and the reaction force move you forward.
5.Gun Firing: when someone fire gun the reaction force push the gun backward.
6.Jumping to land from boat: The action force applied on the boat and the reaction force pushes you to land. The action force push the boat backward.
7.Slapping: When you slap someone your hand feel pain as well as the check of the victim. The pain in check due to action and in palm due to reaction force.
8.Bouncing Of Ball: When a ball hit ground or a wall the ball apply a force on the wall or on the ground. The wall or the ground apply a reaction force then the ball bounce back.
9.Walking: While walking we push ground backwards, as a result the ground push us forward.
10.Swimming: We push water backwards while swimming, and then water takes us forward.
Ever wondered why fire fighters hold pipe so tightly? Well, the backward movement of the those pipes due to opposite reaction of water rushing in the forward direction at a high speed.
During the rowing of a boat, the boatman pushes the water backwards with the oars. The water exerts equal and opposite push on the boat which makes the boat move forward.
The nozzle of the engine of the jet airplane moves the exhaust gases backwards with a very high velocity. This is backward motion of the exhaust gases produces a forward thrust due to the sudden expansion for gases and this in turn propels the airplane forward.
When a man jumps out of a boat to the bank of river, the boat moves backwards because the man pushes the boat with his foot in backward direction and boat exerts equal force on man in forward direction which enables him to move forward.
A swimmer pushes the water backwards by his/her hands and in return the water pushes the swimmer forwards, thus enabling him to go forward during swimming.
A man walking on ground: While walking, a person pushes the ground in the backward direction, and the ground in return pushes the person in the forward direction, thus making him/her to walk.
A bird while flying pushes the air downwards with the help of its wings. Consistent with Newton’s third law of , air pushes the bird upwards.
When a person is lying on a bed, his weight is opposed by a reaction from the bed (assuming it must be there because of Newton’s third law of Motion). In turn, both forces cancel each other out, and the person enjoys the equilibrium position.
