Coefficient of linear expansion :- it is change in length per unit length per unit change in temperature .
alpha = (d / 1) 1/ dT


Coefficient of linear expansion :- it is change in volume per unit volume per unit change in temp.
gamma =(d v/v)1/dT


so , relation between linear coefficient and volume coefficient is
3 alpha = gamma
