The Deccan Plateau covers the major portion of the southern part of the country.
The Deccan Plateau is higher in the west and slopes gently towards east.
This would imply that most Deccan plateau rivers flow from west to east.
It is the largest plateau in the Indian sub-continent.

Being devoid of any tectonic plates, this plateau is uniform and hence it is not susceptible to earthquakes.

It is composed of crystalline rocks of basalt so it is an important source of minerals.
