Recently our school organized and celebrated grandparent's day to show love and respect to the elderly people. This was planned to honor them and give them an opportunity to show love and also help children understand guidance, strength, and information older people could offer.
Activities were planned in a way so that grandparents could tell about events occurred before the children were born. It was a fun week with games which made the children interview their grandparents and enjoy the stories they had to share from the past. Health check up was also a fun activity where children played the role of doctors and checked their grandparents.
Writing contest was also the highlight of the event in which students wrote why theirs are the best grandparents. The best writer was awarded from grandparents with a certificate and had them honored. Old family music, songs, and dances made the event more beautiful.

Grandparents’ Day celebrations were held during regular school timings, on the 6th of December to mark the importance of grandparents in our lives. The response was overwhelming, with many seniors being escorted by their families.
Each grandparent was welcomed with a flower. Thereafter, they were taken for a preliminary health check up. Doctors from the Fortis Hospital answered questions and gave out pamphlets about age related problems.
The elders enjoyed playing the games. The joke competition saw the maximum participation, with many seniors entertaining the crowds with hilarious jokes. Prizes were given out to the deserving winners.
The school announced its plans of setting aside time each month for grandparents to come to school and share their experiences with students. It was an eventful day which ended with a promise of more fun in the future.
