Concept

Rectangle is a four sided quadrilateral whose opposite sides are equal.

Given

Rectangle ABCD translates 4 units down and 2 units to the right to form rectangle A'B'C'D'. AB = 3 units and AD = 5 units.

Find

The length of new side B'C'.

Solution

Rectangle can be translated on a 2D plane by moving it to different points or rotating it an angle by fixing one of its vertices.

Rotating a rectangle by an angle wont change the  dimensions of the figure.

Since the rectangle is  moved from one set of points to other without rotating or changing the dimensions of rectangle , The dimensions wont be affected. Hence,

Length BC = length AD = Length B'C' = 5units.

The length of new side B'C' is 5 units.
