In sentence 2 'is' is wrong it would be was

Answer:

1. In spite of should be replaced with even though

2. is is replaced with was

3. have is replaced with had

4.  absent-minded is replaced with absent-mindedly

Explanation:

1. although/even though + clause & despite, in spite of(+ verb + -ing)

For example- he lives in 1BHK house even though he is a millionaire.

Despite being a millionaire, he lives in a very small room.

2. As the Paragraph is in past tense but here it is given in present tense.

So, it was given in past tense.

3. Here also, it is given in present tense. So, it should be replaced with had.
