Including roughage in the diet prevents from constipation and ensures proper bowling movement. Many doctors belive that a high fibre diet reduces heart disease and bowl cancer.

Roughage add bulk to our food. Since it is not digested, it passes down the entire digestive track from the mouth to the anus. The muscles of the digestive track need this bulk to push against.
