For a particular map the scale will remain constant.

• The scale of a map is the ratio of the distance that is shown on the map to the same distance which is there on the ground.
• Different maps might have different scales but a particular map will have the same scale all over the map.
• Since the distance on ground is large and we cannot plot the same distance on a map therefore a scale has to be used to ease out the work.
