reena mixes carbon ,iron and nickel to get an alloy . she ties a piece of obtained alloy onto a timber and theows it to water. she finds the alloy on top of water while half of timber is submerged . reena then flips the block , so that alloy is now underwater . does amount of block submerged increase , decrease or remain same ? justify your answer.

Since the alloy is heavy and she attached to a piece of wood, wood being buoyant would float halfway. Since the alloy is now underwater and he wood above it would float as the wood carries the weight of the alloy. i.e. the alloy had a higher chance of sinking when it was on top of the wood.
