Speed of light in that medium

as n ( refractive index) = C/V
WHERE C IS SPEED OF LIGHT IN VACUUM AND V IS THE SPEED OF LIGHT IN MEDIUM

IF DENSITY OF OBJECT IS MORE THAN REFRACTIVE INDEX WILL BE MORE.

Refractive index depends upon the following factors :

(i) Refractive index is inversely proportional to the optical density of the medium .

(ii) Refractive index is inversely proportional to the temperature of the medium.

(iii) It is inversely proportional to the wavelength of the ray.

Note :

Optical density depends upon the material of the body.
