The red color has the lowest refractive index in "VIBGYOR".This happens when we pass light through a triangular prism.Then it gets seperated into 7 colors and we call them combiningly as spectrum.

So,Violet has the highest refractive index and Red has the lowest refractive index from that activity.

reflexive index=velocity in vaccum/ velocity in medium

and velocity in medium is frequency*wavelength
