Relation between surface tension and contact angle

Contact angle is related both tosurface tension and to thermodynamic equilibrium between phases, it is analyzed to measure the wettability of surfaces. Considering a droplet deposited on a horizontal surface, it can be defined contact angle the angleformed by the liquid-gas interface with respect to the solid.
