Freedom: Now you need a certain level of freedom in thought to be creative in your thinking. (I wonder how aeroplanes fly(Mechanics), I wonder why some people talk more than others(Behavioural Science), What will happen if I add mentos to coke(Chemistry)). People who are high in Openness in 'Big 5 Personality Traits' tends be more creative in their thinking.

Take Newton for example, who was simply sitting in his garden and an apple fell and then he went on to establish his law of gravitational forces. He was curious why an apple falls in straight line to the ground. Now the second part of the story is the discipline(associated with conscientiousness from the Big 5) to actually execute what you have had the freedom to think.

Another real world example can be from cricket, it's easy to say a fast bowler should bowl a Yorker at 140 Km/hr in the death overs, but it takes incredible amount of practice and discipline, and building the muscle memory to going out and delivering it when necessary in important matches when the whole country is watching.
