REPORT: AMERICANS WORKING FOR RIGHTS TODAY
Here is your goal for this assignment:

Write a report identifying groups working in the area of human rights

Even though the Revolutionary War officially ended with the Peace Treaty of 1783, the battle for human rights has not ended. The Civil War was fought to determine states' rights in a democratic republic and win the freedom of the black slaves. Even today, people in the United States are working to protect their rights.

Use newspapers, news magazines, or the Internet to identify groups of people that are working in the area of human rights. Select five groups in the United States. What rights are they working to protect? Are they working for "new" rights or stronger enforcement of existing civil rights laws? How are their efforts similar to or different from the efforts of America's Founding Fathers? Evaluate the use and effectiveness of the groups' methods in protecting rights. Type your results using proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Your report should be 250 words in length. List your sources at the end of your project.

Several American Worker's Rights Groups work together to this day to ensure that the rights of the workers are protected and that the human rights of these individuals are upheld. These groups include;

The National Institute of Worker's Rights:

This organization was started in 1985  and shares a vision for workers to be treated with the utmost dignity and respect, and works towards creating a diverse and inclusive environment that is also highly equitable. The company puts workers' safety at the top of its priority list and works towards constant research, leadership, advocacy, and public welfare. As of recently, the organization is working heavily to ensure that the reproductive rights of workers across America are protected.

United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW):

This organization is a union consisting of over 1.3 million members and ensures that workers have access to essential items and resources such as food. The company believes that ordinary people can come together and make a lasting difference and works with a wide range of workers including those who work at grocery and retail stores. They constantly fight for better wages, provide health care and insurance, and protect the rights of individuals who are not part of the union.

The (INAERP) Indian and Native American Employment Rights Program:

This program aims to spread awareness in the fields of employment rights and helps American and Native American individuals find job opportunities including Natives in the Alaskan region. The programs work in compliance and with assistance from outreach and federal contractors as well as coordination with tribal representatives and community-based organizations. With the help of these programs, native Americans can work towards finding better jobs while ensuring their rights are upheld.

The African Americans and the American Labor Movement:

This movement took place in 169s and 1970s as thousands of black Americans worked towards and demanded justice within unions and in the workplace. African Americans have had a long history of improper working conditions with histories that go back to segregation, unequal pay, and slavery. Through movements like these, America could now become conscious of the mistreatment of a large group of people and work towards fixing any wrongs that take place in the workplace. To this day movements such as Black Lives Matter, work towards ensuring the safety of Black individuals across America.

United Farm Workers of America or the UFW: This organization is a worker's union that organizes major agricultural industries across the US. The organization has signed legislation and ensured the enactment of acts to protect farmers' rights. It has also organized and signed union contracts with the largest food resource producers in the industry. One of their most important actions includes the protection of farmers from harsh chemical and agricultural chemical exposure, as well as the prevention of food-borne illnesses.
