Locating √7 on the nuberline is very simple and interesting, just follow the steps given below -:
1. Draw a numberline [locating only 0,1,2 & 3 is necessary].
2. Draw a perpendicular on √4 i.e. 2.
3. Now cut an arc of 1 unit on this perpendicular line and mark it A.Then join 0 and A.
4. Take 0 as center and the other end of compas on A and draw an arc that meets the numberline at point P. P = √5.
5. Again draw a perpendicular on P and repeat the whole [but this time place the other end of compas on point B, which would be 1 unit on the perpendicular above P]. After that you will get √6, mark it Q on the numberline.
6. Again repeat the whole to obtain √7,and mark it R on the numberline.[Remember this time place the other end of compas on point C, which would be 1 unit on the perpendicular above Q].
