Represent the following on the Cartesian plane :-

  • Point where abscissa is -5 and ordinate is 4.

  • Point in the second quadrant whose distance from both the axis is 4 units.Point on the x-axis whose distance from y-axis is 5 unit.

Answers :-

  • The point on the y-axis has its abscissa 0. So, the point whose ordinate is 4 and which lies on the y-axis is (0,4).

  • The perpendicular distance from x -axis ,y -4units perpendicular distance from

y-axis,

x = 5units

∴(x,y)=(−5,4)
