Variable resistor:
- A variable resistor is one in which the resistance of the circuit can be varied. This consists of a resistor wire which is of a particular length. If we adjust the ‘length of the resistor’ the resistance also changes.
- This is because resistance is ‘directly proportional to the length’ of the resistor wire. Now if the length is made short the resistance is also decreased.
- Variable resistor have wide range uses. It is used in fan regulators.
