Answer:

To represent

on number line....Steps are as Follow...

1) Draw a line AX of any length more than 8.47 say take AX = 15 cm ( You can take any length as 16,17,18 etc...)

2) Take A as center and Radius = 8.47( Note taking a point as center means putting ur Compass pointing tip at Point A on your notebook and open your compass upto length = 8.47 which is a radius here ) , Draw an arc which cuts Line AX at point say B, such that AB = 8.47 cm

3) Now Take a point C on the right side of B on the line AX such that BC = 1 unit ( Please note that You can take 1 unit as per your choice for more clearity, if you take 1 unit according to Ruler , BC length will be too small which creates some complications so take BC = 1 unit as per your choice as BC = 3cm here we consider 3cm is a 1 unit..)

4) Now Draw perpendicular Bisector of AC which cuts AC at point O...Which is a mid pont of AC...

5) Take O as a center and Radius = OC Draw a semi circle above The line AX...

6) Draw perpendicular on point B which cuts Semi circle at point M say. Here BM =

7) Now take B as a center and Radius = BM , Draw an arc which cuts AX on the right side of point C at the Point N say, Such that BN =

This is how we represent...

Note that B is the origin here...

Hope this help..
