Reproduction in Animals

Asexual Reproduction

This type ofreproduction occurs in prokaryotic microorganisms (bacteria) and in some eukaryotic single-celled and multi-celled organisms

sexual reproduction

is the production of a new organism from two parents by making use of their sex cells or gametes. In this process male gametes fuses with a female gamete to form a new cell called 'zygote'. This zygote then grows and develops in to a new organism in due course of time

Reproduction in Plants

Sexual reproduction

Sexual reproduction produces offspring by the fusion of gametes, resulting in offspring genetically different from the parent or parents

Asexual reproduction

Asexual reproduction produces individuals that are genetically identical to the parent plant. Roots such as corms, stem tubers, rhizomes, and stolon undergo vegetative reproduction

Reproduction in animals and plants asexual :-

  • Asexual reproduction yields genetically-identical organisms because an individual reproduces without another.

Reproduction in animals and plants sexual:-

  • In sexual reproduction, the genetic material of two individuals from the same species combines to produce genetically-different offspring; this ensures mixing of the gene pool of the species.
