Answer:
Reproduction (or procreation or breeding) is the biological process by which new individual organisms – "offspring" – are produced from their "parents". Reproduction is a fundamental feature of all known life; each individual organism exists as the result of reproduction.
Reproduction :- The process of giving birth to the young ones is called reproduction.
Types of reproduction:-
→ Sexual Reproduction
→ Asexual Reproduction
Here,we are going to discuss about sexual reproduction.
It involves male reproductive organs and female reproductive organs.
Male reproductive organs :
♦ Testes, Sperm (male gamete), Sperm ducts and Penis
→ Testes :- These are paired, oval-shaped, located outside the abdominal cavity in scortal sac, which produce the male gametes, Sperm and male sex hormone, testosterone.
→ Sperm :- It is known as male gamete. It is tiny, flexible and single celled. It has a head, a middle piece and s tail. The long tail helps it to move through female tract.
→ Sperm ducts :- These connects testes to the urethra in order to allow the passage of semen(secretions of various glands).
→ Penis :- It is the external male genital organs which transfers spend into the vagina of female.
Female reproductive organs :
♦ Ovaries, Ova/Egg(female gamete), Oviduct, Uterus, Vagina
→ Ovaries :- These are paired, oval-shaped, located in the lower part of abdominal cavity. It produces gene gametes, ova or egg and secrete female sex hormone, oestrogen. Either of the ovaries produces one ovum every month.
→ Ova/Egg :- It is known as female gamete. It is round and single celled with nucleus, cytoplasm and a cell membrane.
→ Oviduct :- It is also known as fallopian tube. It has a funnel opening near the ovary that carries ova from ovary to uterus.
→ Uterus :- It is the place where growth and development of foetus takes place.
→ Vagina :- It receives Sperms from male, it serves as a birth canal.
Fertilisation :
♦ The fusion of male gamete (sperm) and female gamete (ova/egg) to form a zygote is called fertilisation.
→ During fertilisation, the nuclei of the spend and the egg fuse to form a single nucleus. This results in the formation of fertilised egg or zygote.
→ After that, development of embryo occurs. The cells begin to form groups that finally develops into different tissues and organs of body. This is known as embryo.
→ When all the body parts of an off spring can be identified easily,it is known as foetus.
