In reproduction, DNA passes from one generation to the next. Copying of a DNA takes place with consistency but with minor variations. This consistency leads to stability of species.

by doing reproduction the organisms in a species create their own type which ensures the existence of that species...if that generation become dead due to some reasons...their off springs will ensure the stability of the population
