MGR, who served as Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu for a decade, was a popular film hero.

The ₹100 denomination coin is of 44 millimetre diameters. While one side will have a portrait of MGR , the other side will bear the Lion Capital of Asoka Pillar. Each coin,will weigh 35 gram.
