A few dinoflagellates may use alien chloroplasts (cleptochloroplasts), obtained from food (kleptoplasty). Some dinoflagellates may feed on other organisms as predators or parasites. Food inclusions contain bacteria, bluegreen algae, smalldinoflagellates, diatoms, ciliates, and other dinoflagellates.
