food for the energy the food that we eat for example brand chappati that contains carbohydrates the carbohydrate goes to every single cell of the body and react with oxygen to form glucose hence respiration is an exothermic reaction

Hii Rekha,

Here is your answer dear:---

First of all we should understand actually what the exothermic reaction is..........
Exothermic reaction:--- Those reactions from which heat or energy is released out.
Respiration is known as exothermic reaction because when we eat food then, after some time oxidation of food is takes place in the presence of oxygen.
And the reaction is.......
C6H12O 6 + 6 O2 ------>6CO2 + 6H2O

686 kcal/ mole
So large amounts of energy is released out during respiration, so it is known as oxidation reacation.

hope it will help you!!!
Thanks!
