Given:

The scale used by Reuben = 0.5 cm to 1 inch

Length of the scale drawing = 2.5 centimeters

Its width = 4.75 meters.

To find:

  1. The perimeter of the scale drawing.
  2. The perimeter of the actual flag.

Solution:

  • Perimeter of the sale drawing (P1)= 2*(length + breadth)

P1 = 2*(2.5 + 4.75)

= 2* 7.25

= 14.5 cm

  • If the scale is 0.5 cm to 1 inch

The length of the actual flag = (2.5*1) / 0.5 inches = 5 inches

And width of actual flag = (4.75*1) / 0.5 inches = 9.5 inches

Perimeter of actual flag (P2)= 2*(length + breadth)

P2 = 2*(5+ 9.5)

= 2* 14.5

= 23 inches

The perimeter of scale drawing is 14.5 cm and that of actual flag is 23 inches.
