Hi friend,

Your answer:

"Death the leveller" by James Shirley is powerful philosophical poem. The basic idea of this poem is that good deeds will be remembered for ever. The poem criticizes artificial and worldly success and victories. It shows that Death is the leveller or the ultimate conqueror. No one can be protected from the ultimate conqueror - death. Every minute, a human is slowly moving towards his own inevitable end - death.

Every worldly achievement futile in front of death. Everything is reduced to dust. Death is personified as a person whose icy cold hands force the rich and the poor, the powerful and the weak, all to yield before it.

This poem teaches us to think carefully before we take decision and analyse the consequences of our actions as death is looming over us and our life can be snatched from us at any moment. We should not boast about our so called mighty deeds.

Hope it helps!
