The narration of the sentence can be changed as follows:

He addressed the young man and said that they were ready to listen to Bach then.

How to convert a direct narration into indirect narration?

  • To convert direct narration into indirect narration, we remove the quotation marks or inverted commas.
  • If the tense of the verb inside the quotation marks is in the present tense like above, then we change it into the past tense.
  • 'Now' is changed to 'then' is an indirect narration.

Indirect narration- He called him a young man and said that they were ready to listen to bach then.

1. In an indirect narration, words exactly denote what is written in the particular context in which the action of reporting would take place, rather than that in which the computation of the given context is being said to take place.

2. When we try to report what exact wordings someone has used without a single speech mark and also without using the duplicate words we can then use an indirect narration.

3. Thus when a sentence portrays some words or layouts or formations whose symbol counts in these particular situations, they are necessarily needed to switch the sentence into indirect narration.
