Given,

Rihana walked 35m in the east direction.

Then she turned right and walked 15m.

To find,

Minimum distance between the starting point and ending point.

Solution,

According to the diagram,

Rihana starts her journey from point A and reaches point B by travelling 35 metres in the east direction. Then she turned right and walked 15 metres to reach point C.

Now, to again reach the point A, the minimum distance that she have to travel is the length of AC.

Now, from the visualisation, we get that ∆ABC is a right angled triangle, where -

AB = Base = 35m

BC = Height = 15m

AC = Hypotenuse = Let, x m

According to the Pythagoras theorem,

(x)² = (35)²+(15)²

x² = 1225+225

x² = 1450

x = 38.07 (approx.)

Hence, the minimum distance will be approximately 38.07 metres.

Answer:

This is Right-angled Triangle and (using formula of Pythagoras) we can solve this problems easily...

(H)²= (P)²+(B)²

As H= X

P= 35, B= 15

(X)²= (35)²+ (15)²

x²= 35x35 + 15x15

x²= 1225+225

x²= 1450

Now square foot on both sides.

√x²= √1450 => 38.07

Both square root will be finished

we get

Ans

38.07 approx
