Rinku has built a cuboidal water tank in his house the top of water tank is covered with an iron lead, He wants to cover the inner surfacee of the tank including the base with tiles of size 10 by 10 cm . If the dimensions of water tank are 180cm , 120cm , and 60cm and cost of tiles is Rs.480 per dozen , then find the amount required for tiles.

Answer :
Given : Dimension of water tank , length = 180 cm , Breadth = 120 cm and Height = 60 cm
And
Dimension of tiles , Length = 10 cm and breadth = 10 cm
So,
Total surface area of water tank without Top of the tank = 2( Length × Height ) + 2 ( Breadth ×Height ) + Length × Breadth
So,
Total surface area of tank , where Rinku wants to fit tiles
= 2 ( 180× 60 ) + 2 ( 120 × 60 ) + 180 × 120
= 21600 + 14400 + 21600
= 57600 cm2
And
Area of single tile = 10 × 10 = 100 cm2
So,
Total tiles used = 57600100 = 576 tiles
And
Cost of tiles is Rs.480 per dozen , So
Cost of one tile = 48012 = Rs.40
Therefore
Cost of 576 tiles = 576 × 40 = 23040
So,
The amount required for tiles = Rs. 23,040

Answer:
Given tank is in cuboldal shape so Total inner surface area of water tank including the base without top.
=2(l+b)×h+l×b
=2(180+120)×60+180×120
=36000+21600
=57600cm
2
Given Area of each time tile =10×8
=80cm
2
∴ Number of tiles required =
80
57600
=720
Given rate of tiles required us Rs.720 per dozen.
Total amount required for 720 tiles is =
12
480
×720
=Rs.28800
