• Present Age of Rita and Latha .

As Given that Rita age now is thrice the age of Latha . So ,

$\longmapsto\tt{Rita's\:Age=3x}$

Before 8 years :

$\longmapsto\tt{Age\:of\:Latha=x-8}$

$\longmapsto\tt{Age\:of\:Rita=3x-8}$

A.T.Q :

$\longmapsto\tt{3x-8=4(x-8)}$

$\longmapsto\tt{3x-8=4x-32}$

$\longmapsto\tt{3x-4x=-32+8}$

$\longmapsto\tt{-x=-24}$

$\longmapsto\tt\bf{x=24}$

Therefore :

Solution :-

Let the present age of Latha be a

Age of Rita = 3a

Eight years ago

3a - 8 = 4(a - 8)

3a - 8 = (4 × a) - (4 × 8)

3a - 8 = 4a - 32

32 - 8 = 4a - 3a

24 = 4a - 3a

24 = a

Therefore

Age of Latha = a = 24 years

Age of Rita = 3a = 3(24) = 72 years
