Answer: Rs3520

Concept: This question is from the 'Ratio & Proportion' chapter. It's a word problem, therefore to solve it we make an equation according to the statement given in the problem.

Given: Riya and Avanya sold 2 bicycles worth Rs4800 and Avanya sold

\frac{11}{4}  times what Riya sold

To find : How much did Avanya get in this?

Solution: Now according to the question's statement

Avanya sold \frac{11}{4} time Riya sold and their total worth is Rs4800

Let Riya sold at 'x' rs

           x+\frac{11}{4}x=4800

⇒          \frac{4x+11x}{4} =4800

⇒          \frac{15x}{4}=4800

⇒          15x=4×4800

⇒          15x=19,200

⇒              x=\frac{19200}{15}

⇒              x=Rs1280

Riya Sold the bicycle for Rs1280 & and Avanya sold \frac{11}{4} times of Riya

therefore Avanya sold price= \frac{11}{4}×1280

                                              = 3520

Avanya sold it for Rs3520
