Two rods, 'A' and 'B', of the same weight and
equal length, have different thicknesses. A boy,
while playing with them on a beach, held them
vertically on the surface of sand as shown in the
figure. Which one of them will sink less? Explain.​

Explanation:

The rod A having more area of contact compared to rod B,and the forces is same because of same weight of the rods. Therefore the rod B will exert more pressure on that area than rod A. Hence,the rod B will sink more.
