Given :  Rohit sold his bicycle at 4% profit. If he sold it for 1224 less, he would have incurred a 30% loss.

To Find : the price at which Rohit purchased the bicycle

(1) 6300

(2) 6400 (3) 3600

(4) 5600 (5) 4500

Solution:

let say Rohit purchase cycle  =  Rs 100X

4 % profit   = (4/100)100X  = X  Rs

Selling Price = 100X + 4X  = 104X

30% loss.  = (30/100)100X = 30X

Selling Price = 100X - 30X = 70X

104X - 1224 = 70X

=> 34X  = 1224

=> X = 36

=> 100X = 3600

Rohit purchase cycle  =   3600 Rs
