Rohit was putting up one of his paintings in his living room. Before this Rohit had put a

grid on the wall where each unit measured equal to a foot. The upper-left corner of the frame is at point C (1, 8) and the upper-right corner at D (7, 8). The bottom-left corner is at A (1, 2) and the bottom-right corner at B (7, 2).

Answer:

The ans is

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : Frame with coordinates

upper left corner : (1 , 8)

upper right corner : (7, 8)

bottom left corner : (1, 2)

bottom right corner : (7, 2)

Solution :

1. Find width of the painting

Width of the painting = distance between upper left corner and upper right corner

By using distance formula,

∵ Width of the painting = (x2 - x1) + (y2 - y1)

∵ Width of the painting = (7 - 1) + (8 - 8)

∵ Width of the painting = 6 units.

2. Find the length of the painting

length of the painting = distance between upper left corner and bottom left corner

By using distance formula,

∵ Length of the painting = (x2 - x1) + (y2 - y1)

∵ Length of the painting = (1 - 1) + (8 - 2)

∵ Length of the painting = 6 units.

3. Side AB and CD are parallel to x axis.

4. Side AC and BD are parallel to y axis.

Concept:

The study of geometry using coordinate points is known as coordinate geometry (also known as analytical geometry). It is possible to determine the separation between two points, divide a line into m:n segments, locate a line's midpoint, determine the area of a triangle in the Cartesian plane, and perform other operations using coordinate geometry.

The four quadrants are represented as

Quadrant 1 : (+x, +y)

Quadrant 2 : (-x, +y)

Quadrant 3 : (-x, -y)

Quadrant 4 : (+x, -y)

Distance between two points = √(x₂ - x₁)² +(y₂ - y₁)²

Given :

Frame with coordinates

upper left corner : (1 , 8)

upper right corner : (7, 8)

bottom left corner : (1, 2)

bottom right corner : (7, 2)

Find:

1)Find the width of the  painting

2) Find the length of the painting

3) Sides which are parallel to x axis

4) Sides which  are parallel to y-axis

Solution :
