Many of the countries most affected by El Nino and Southern Oscillation are developing countries that are largely dependent upon their agricultural and fishery sectors for food supply, employment, and foreign exchange. The frequency and severity of these events caused by global warming will cause El Nino to have grave socio-economic impacts on these countries.

The Sea surface temperatures play a major role in global weather which influences two extreme phases of a naturally occurring climate cycle. I.e., El Nino/Southern Oscillation and La Nina. Both terms refer to large-scale changes in sea-surface temperature across the eastern tropical Pacific and the most powerful phenomenon of the Earth. These are best known for altering the climate across more than half of the planet that also impact the weather patterns.
