Forests are collective term for vegetations, spread within a specific area. The trees, shrubs and herbs are useful for controlling natural hazards among which flood is one of them. The trees basically absorb the water, that the flood brings. The more the number of trees, the more quantity of water is absorbed and in this way, it disallows the water to enter into residential areas. Thus, by this way, forests prevent flood.

During rains when water droplets fall on the trees they touch the ground drop by drop and thus the upper soil of the land is not removed. In this way it helps to prevent flood because the water does not hit the ground fastly and thus preventing flood.
