Answer:

Nosocomial infections are those which are spread through hospitals.there may be many sources of infection which include the patients, equipments like syringes, needles, catheters, etc, improper maintenance of hospitals. The various methods of sterilization employed in microbiology play a v.crucial role in the prevention of such infections.some of them include:

Autoclaving: 121c,15lb pressure for 15minutes is the condition for autoclaving and the principle is moist heat sterilization which penetrates v.effectively into microbes causing the coagulation of proteins.the equipments used in the hospitals, media used for conducting the tests can be sterilized in this method.

Hot air oven: maintenance of temp around 160c causes dry heat sterilization which is widely used for glass ware used in labs and hospitals.

Incenaration:It is nothing but reducing some material to ashes.this is widely employed to destroy the hospital wastes which are highly infectious and toxic those which are collected from operation theatres.

usage of disinfectants, anti-microbial solutions, chemicals like phenols, various electro magnetic radiations, fumigation of labs and operation theatres frequently  can prevent the spread of  infections to a large scale.
