Quaternary ammonium compounds, being cationic surfactants, show affinity for bacteria and exhibit antibacterial efficacy under these conditions. It is believed that they interfere with the function of the cell membrane, resulting in leakage of cellcomponents and eventually lysis, or destruction of the cell
