Rag-pickers help in waste management of a city. All waste that we produce can be categorised as biodegradable, non biodegradable and recyclable. When this garbage is produced, it needs to be sorted out. Ragpickers do a great job of separation of materials for recycling and the biodegradable materials are put in deep pits into the ground and are left for natural breakdown. So, ragpickers separate out the recyclable materials from the waste. Hence, help in waste management.
