An explicit goal of the 8th Curriculum reform was to shape students's political and social beliefs.  In a 2001 document preparing a reform, the ministry of education of the people's Republic of china stated that education  should form in students a correct world view, a correct view of life and a correct value system.
While the 8th curriculum reform affected the content of textbook across the high school curriculum, we focus on changes made to the political curriculum because it was designed for moral and ideological education.
