Role of sulphuric acid in dehydration of ethanol

Since sulphuric acid is a good dehydrating agent, it is used in dehydration of Ethanol to dehydrate ethanol to produce ethyl acetate..
Sulphuric acid acts as a catalyst in the reaction hence it does not take part in it but increases the speed if reaction..
