Usually the plants absorb a lot of nitrogen in the soil so the soil decline in the amount of nitrogen. Nitrogen is available plenty in air but the plants can't use them in the manner they use Carbon Dioxide. A symbiotic bacterium called Rhizobium can convert atmospheric nitrogen into an usable form but it can't prepare its own food. So it often lives in the roots of some legumes( pea, dal) . The plant provides Rhizobium with the prepared food and in return the Rhizobium converts nitrogen into an usable form and provides it to the plant. This association is a great significance for the farmers.
