Answer:

The effect of probenecid on the combination of amoxycillin/clavulanic acid has been compared with the effect on amoxycillin alone and it has been shown that probenecid, whilst producing its expected effect on amoxycillin, did not affect the clavulanic acidconcentration of the combination.

Answer

ROLE OF CLAVULANIC ACID:-

Clavulanic acid is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that is frequently combined with Amoxicillin or Ticarcillin to fight antibiotic resistance by preventing their degradation by beta-lactamase enzymes, broadening their spectrum of susceptible bacterial infections.

ROLE OF PROBENICID ACID:-Probenecid, which is a uricosuric drug, inhibits the tubular reabsorption of filtered and secreted urate, thereby increasing urate excretion.
