150 1/4 = 601/4

40 1/5 = 201/5

length of remaining piece = 150 1/4 - 40 1/5

= 601/4 - 201/5

= 2201/20 cm

I hope it helps u☺☺

The length of the remaining piece is 110¹/₂₀ cm

Given : Roma gave a wooden board of length 150 1/4 cm to a carpenter for making a shelf. The Carpenter sawed off a piece of 40 1/5 cm from it.

To find : The length of the remaining piece.

Solution :

We can simply solve this mathematical problem by using the following mathematical process. (our goal is to calculate the length of the remaining piece)

Initial length of the wooden borad :

= 150¼ cm

 = \frac{(150 \times 4) + 1}{4} \: cm

 = \frac{601}{4} \: cm

Sawed off length :

= 40⅕ cm

 = \frac{(40 \times 5) + 1}{5} \: cm

  = \frac{201}{5} \: cm

Remaining length :

= Initial length - Sawed off length

 = ( \frac{601}{4} - \frac{201}{5}) \: cm

 = ( \frac{3005 - 804}{20} )cm

 = \frac{2201}{20} \: cm

 = 110 \frac{1}{20} \: cm

(This will be considered as the final result.)

Hence, the length of the remaining piece is 110¹/₂₀ cm
