let say √3 and √5 be a rational no.

then it can be written as

√3+√5=a/b where b is not equal to 0

√8=a/b

√8b=a ,squaring both side

8b²=a² eq-1

a² is divided by 8 , so a is also divided by 8

and 8 is common factor of a

let a=8c , putting in eq-1

8b²=64c²

b²=8c²

so b² divided by 8 ,b is divided by 8

then it means 8 is common factor of a&b

but it is not possible in case of rational no. so hence our assumption is wrong and √3&√5 is irrational n
