let the number of eggs be x
number of eggs sold on saturday=x/4
total eggs-eggs sold=eggs remained
x-x/4=3x/4
eggs remained on saturday=3x/4
eggs sold on sunday=1/6(3x/4)=x/8
total number of sold eggs = x/8+x/4 =3x/8
eggs remained=x-3x/8=5x/8=140
5x=1120
x=224
NUMBER OF EGGS IN THE BEGINNING ARE 224

solution :
           Let number of eggs = x
           Eggs sold on  Saturday =x/4
           Therefore , Remaining eggs = total eggs - eggs sold
                                                   = x - x/4
                                                   =4x -x /4
                                                   =3x/4
         Eggs sold on Sunday = 1/6 of Remaining eggs on saturday
                                          = 1/6*3x/4
                                           =3x/6*4
                                          =x/8
Hence The total number of eggs sold = x/4 +x/8
                                                      =x(1/4+1/8)
                                                     =3x/8

We know that ,
                   Total number of eggs - total eggs sold = remaining eggs
                       x -3x/8 =140
                       8x - 3x = 8*140
                       5x =1120
                         x=1120/5
                         x=224
Hope this helps you!!

Thank YOu!!
Cheers!!!
