Roy had some pens. 20% of them are red and the rest are black. He sold half of his red pens and 20% of his black pens. What percentage of his pens was sold?

Note: If your answer is 50% then write only 50.

Lets suppose that Roy had '100' pens in total.

20% were red, so he had 20 red pens.

Remaining 80% were black so he had 80 black pens.

He sold half of his red pens,

20/2 = 10

He sold 20% of his black pens,

20/100 * 80 = 16

So, he totally sold

16 + 10 = 26

Time to find the percentage!

26/100 * 100 = 26%

=> 26
